About Me :Hey all! I wrote out a profile, and my sister saw it and said it was "inadequate"! She really wanted to create a better profile, but I protested that it wouldn't be my own words. Soo...I'm leaving up my profile and the one she graciously created for me below :)

I come from a family of incredibly ambitious, passionate, intelligent, and tenacious women. Having been surrounded by these women my entire life, I cannot see myself with anyone who cannot self-identify with some(ideally all!) of these characteristics.
Today, I'm a former medical student that migrated into running my own tech-startup company; tomorrow, who knows! For fun, I love lifting weights and basking in the soreness that follows an extreme workout. Reading, building science, and creative media community-based work also are some of my passions. In the past, I've modeled and have been published in a couple of magazines, but that's not a career for me. Caste doesn't matter to me. In fact, caste matters so little to me that I don't even know my own caste past my last name. What does matter to me is that my partner attempts to achieve at her highest levels and acknowledges that failure is okay. Its also important to me that my partner was born and raised in the United States for cultural reasons. I was raised with traditional South Asian values and virtues and hold many of them near and dear; however, my respect towards those very values seizes to exist when they conflict with equality and/or fairness between men and women. Vegetarianism is also very important to me. With so much food and so much variety available today in all corners of the country, I hold a moral, ethical, and environmental opposition to meat consumption.
I'm looking forward to sharing my life experiences and ambitions with someone, hearing and dreaming about hers, and growing our future of shared values together. :)

There's no better way to introduce my little brother than to share some fun facts:
- He was a Hollywood movie star for a few hours.
- He was once given detention for his afternoon shadow.
- He loves olives so much that he almost accepted a job at an olive cart in London on his 21st birthday.
He is the kind of person who lights up any room he walks into with his phenomenal sense of humor, magnetic personality, and immense wealth of both random and useful knowledge. He is sweet and caring, and his heart and love for others know no bounds:
- When my baby was unexpectedly hospitalized, he booked himself on the first flight to help us out and stayed back for several weeks, sacrificing his own work for his nephew.
- He has an uncanny ability to teach himself pretty much anything. At the tender age of 12, he drew up the blueprint for the house he lives in now. He is self-taught in finance (now informally advising several friends on taxes and investments), home maintenance(seriously, he's done more work on my house than my husband, external contractors, and myself combined), car maintenance (he took apart his car door to replace the power window motor), computers and technology, and so much more. My favorite, though, is his ability to turn any situation, past or present, into a stand-up comedy routine.
- Despite having no business background in the family(father was an engineer; mom and sister a physician, and brother-in-law in the pharmaceutical industry), he built from scratch a successful eCommerce business and now coaches others on how to do the same.
- He can befriend anyone and is the reason why my wedding photographer has now become a member of our family who routinely drives 5 hours each way to visit him, even when I'm not there!
Now the facts: He is 34 years old, 5'10", Hindu (believes in God and will participate in religious ceremonies but is more spiritual than religious), Gujarati, never married and no children (though he is awesome with kids and would love to have children of his own one day), non-smoker, occasional alcohol, vegetarian, liberal, and open-minded. Although he was born, raised, and lives in Louisiana, he is ready to move, but prefers to stay in the South. With that said, he has also lived in Atlanta (he went to Emory University for college) and Chicago (more higher education), and spent significant amounts of time in Houston, Dallas, Baltimore, Boston, and New Jersey (true to his Indian heritage). On paper, his career is in eCommerce, running a tech start-up, but he has also been heavily involved in filming (and editing), creative media community-based work, and coaching. He has done free-lance modeling and is published in a couple of magazines. Outside of work, he loves lifting weights and, as he says, "basking in the soreness that follows an extreme workout." He is a new inductee to the Peloton community and is always looking for friends there.
Hopefully these anecdotes demonstrate what I've always known- that my brother is one of the most selfless, intelligent, and hardworking people you will ever meet. We grew up in a single parent (mother) household, and our maternal grandparents (especially grandmother) had a huge influence on our lives; as a result, he has seen and has tremendous respect for the many roles a woman plays over the course of her life. We were raised with strong South Asian values and, while we both still ascribe to most of them, he feels very strongly that a man and a woman are equals in a relationship. A good match would be a woman who is open-minded, ambitious, driven, and able to make him laugh. Although he says deal breakers include women who prefer the bottom half of muffins or the non-cream side of an Oreo, as his older sister, I'd say these are actually pluses since they mean the two of them could theoretically split a muffin or Oreo (something that he and I can't do right now); even if that's not true, though, his heart is so big that he'd happily take the muffin bottom or non-cream side of the Oreo for the right person. I'm still trying to get him to stop saying "pijja" when talking about pizza and "Paneera" when talking about Panera, but those seem like losing battles.
